Eurosatory 2026 in Paris showcased the 4 Troop as a tactical prototype built on Renault’s Rafale SUV, recasting a civilian coupe-SUV as a military command post.
Thales fitted the vehicle with its Combat Digital Platform, enabling it to deploy and coordinate multiple UAVs and UGVs through secure connectivity, onboard sensors, substantial data processing and AI-assisted decision support.
Renault said the plug-in hybrid 4x4 setup is designed for discreet, long-range operations, with a 300-hp powertrain, a 22-kWh battery, 100 km of electric-only range and Vehicle-to-Load power for field equipment.
The companies are pitching the Civilian Multi-Role Vehicle concept as a lower-cost alternative to purpose-built military trucks, arguing a civilian base can cut maintenance and logistics by using existing service networks.
Renault said series production for rapid deployment is possible, underscoring a broader defense-industry push to adapt commercial vehicle platforms for conflict-zone use.
