Six people were arrested in Limeira after 21-year-old model Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died during a 40-meter bungee jump from a bridge in São Paulo state.
Witness video captured bystanders shouting that the rope was missing as she was launched, and police are investigating whether negligence led staff to send her off without the cord attached.
Emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene, while local media said two of those detained tried to flee and authorities are weighing possible criminal charges.
The operator’s Instagram account and a WhatsApp group used to share jump information were later deleted, according to CNN Brasil.
The death has also triggered a dispute over access to the Skeleton Bridge Trail, with Limeira’s city hall planning to sue the federal government over responsibility for the site.
