For most mainstream buyers, the MacBook Neo’s first meaningful Prime Day discount is likely to be one of the year’s best laptop deals, not because it will be the most powerful Mac on sale, but because its $599 starting point already undercuts the rest of Apple’s lineup and any extra cut would make its value unusually strong. The case for the Neo is straightforward. Reviews cited in the broader coverage describe it as the best $599 laptop Apple has made and the model “most people should buy.” At that price, buyers get an aluminum chassis, Apple’s Magic Keyboard, a large trackpad, a fanless A18 Pro chip, strong battery life of up to 16 hours, a solid 13-inch Liquid Retina display, and years of macOS support. That makes it especially attractive for students, home users, and office tasks. The trade-offs are real, but they are targeted rather than fatal. The Neo is limited to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, has sparse ports, an sRGB-only display, and weaker speakers than pricier MacBooks. Those compromises matter for video editors, developers, heavy multitaskers, or anyone planning to keep many large files locally. For those users, a discounted MacBook Air with M5 may be the smarter buy even at a higher price. So the answer depends on the buyer. If Prime Day brings the Neo’s first substantial markdown, it will likely be among the strongest Apple deals of the event for budget-conscious shoppers. If your workload is demanding, the low price may not outweigh the limitations.
