Two words — “Now what?” — were Erica Brunson’s response on X after her brother Jalen Brunson led the Knicks to the 2026 NBA title and won Finals MVP.
The post targeted Becky Hammon’s 2023 argument that New York lacked a true 1A star and that teams led by smaller guards do not win championships, a view she had reiterated before the Finals.
Brunson closed the debate with a unanimous Finals MVP, averaging 32.6 points in the series and scoring 45 in the 94-90 Game 5 clincher over San Antonio.
That performance delivered the Knicks’ first championship since 1973 and made Brunson only the third player 6-foot-3 or shorter to lead a title team in scoring and win Finals MVP.
