An employee accidentally triggered a liquidation protocol while submitting an internal request for software changes, which Junqueira described as an operational error.
Junqueira, a Nu Holdings co-founder, apologized publicly on Instagram after followers asked about the erroneous message.
The incident points to a breakdown in internal app controls at Nubank, even though the alert was not tied to any actual liquidation event.
