Summary
A senior US official said Benjamin Netanyahu will not join Donald Trump’s G7 bilateral meeting next week with leaders from Egypt, the UAE, Qatar and other regional countries in France.
US officials said Washington believes it has reached a “strong deal” with Iran and plans to take part in de-mining the Strait of Hormuz once the waterway reopens, with possible G7 participation.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry, however, said Tehran has no plans to send a negotiating team to Geneva or anywhere else in the next few days, clouding the diplomatic picture.
At the summit, Trump is also expected to meet France and India’s leaders and join a working session with Volodymyr Zelensky while pressing issues including growth, supply chains, migration, AI and critical minerals.
