A single-engine experimental Lancair 235 crashed and burst into flames near Twin Oaks Airpark around 3 p.m. Friday, killing the pilot, the only person aboard.
Eyewitness and dashcam video showed the two-seater flying low across a road before it went down in an open field, where the fire briefly threatened to spread to nearby grass.
Patrick Singh, who saw the crash with his wife, said he ran toward the wreckage to help but the aircraft was quickly engulfed in flames.
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue canceled flights from the airpark for the rest of the day, while the NTSB leads the investigation with FAA assistance.
