Analysts broadly see the move as a way to push consumers toward higher-margin digital sales, especially as Nintendo tries to grow digital adoption beyond a business still dominated by physical purchases. The current Bandai Namco eShop sale reinforces that shift. Deep discounts and “lowest price ever” offers are available digitally on Switch and Switch 2-compatible titles, while physical buyers often cannot match those prices unless retailers run separate promotions. That makes digital storefront sales look more attractive, but it also widens the price gap between formats. So the answer depends on perspective. For digital buyers, the savings are real. For physical buyers, Nintendo’s pricing structure increasingly makes boxed copies feel like a premium product rather than the standard option.
