Medical Examiner Rules James Handy, 81, Was Homicide Victim as Girlfriend's Son Faces Murder Charge

A Los Angeles County medical examiner said actor James Handy, 81, died from a stab wound to the torso and neck compression after he was found unconscious outside a Tarzana home on June 3.
Michael Gledhill, 44 — the son of Handy’s girlfriend, Wendy Gledhill — has been charged with one count of murder, with prosecutors alleging use of a deadly weapon.
Police said a 911 caller around 9:30 a.m. declared, “I am the son of man. I just killed the man of sin,” and officers later described the stabbing as an isolated incident with no public threat.
Wendy Gledhill, 76, told NBC News she was overwhelmed and said she loved Handy, whose screen career included “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Jumanji,” “Logan” and TV roles on “Law & Order” and “NYPD Blue.”
