Summary
Death threats against Austin Metcalf’s family escalated after Karmelo Anthony was convicted of murder Tuesday and sentenced to 35 years for fatally stabbing the 17-year-old at a Texas track meet.
TMZ reported texts saying Austin “------ around and found out” and “Should’ve stabbed Hunter too,” while relatives were allegedly threatened with visits to their homes and taunts about Austin’s grave.
A video posted on X also appeared to show a cyclist assaulting a man while asking whether he had been part of Anthony’s jury selection; Jacksonville police said they are investigating the video’s origin and those involved.
GoFundMe removed a new fundraiser for Anthony and refunded the $726 raised, citing its ban on campaigns funding the legal defense of people charged with violent crimes.
Anthony has filed a notice of appeal, while jurors have not spoken publicly and the Metcalf family says threats are continuing after earlier doxxing and a SWAT response at their Frisco home last August.
