Northern Nahal Saluki has come under Israeli operational control after Golani’s 13th Battalion, the 7th Armored Brigade and Egoz pushed through the area under the 36th Division.
Hundreds of Hezbollah sites were destroyed with air support, more than 50 militants were killed, and forces found weapons caches including explosives, anti-tank systems, rockets and anti-aircraft missiles.
The IDF said Hezbollah had used the Saluki area to launch explosive drones and rockets, and the battalion commander said the advance is meant to push the threat farther from northern Israeli communities.
Lt. Col. M. said the operation marks a shift from holding defensive lines to seizing terrain deeper in southern Lebanon, while the battalion continues fighting after losing 52 soldiers and commanders on October 7.

Securing Israel’s Northern Border: Golani 13th Battalion’s Advances, Hezbollah Tunnel Exposures, and Humanitarian Fallout in Southern Lebanon (June 2026)
Overview
The Golani 13th Battalion has focused its recent operations in northern Nahal Saluki, southern Lebanon, on creating a more secure environment by countering Hezbollah’s tactical threats. A major achievement was the discovery of Hezbollah’s extensive underground tunnels beneath Beaufort, which is crucial for understanding and disrupting their operations. Alongside this, the battalion has worked to reduce the effectiveness of Hezbollah’s drone attacks by using specialized equipment and increasing soldier vigilance. These combined efforts have helped limit drone threats to northern Israeli villages and have weakened Hezbollah’s ability to operate freely in the region.
