ZDNET highlighted 10 budget smart-home devices it says can meaningfully upgrade daily routines, with almost all priced below $100 ahead of seasonal sales.
Lower prices and heavier competition have made cameras, lighting, sensors and hubs far cheaper than a few years ago, while Matter and Thread support now makes mixing brands easier.
The list ranges from a $7 Kasa Mini smart plug and sub-$50 Echo Dot or Nest Mini hubs to a $90 Cosori smart air fryer and a Blink video doorbell discounted to $36.
One exception tops $100: the 3i G10+ robot vacuum and mop at $200, which ZDNET said offers flagship-style cleaning and a built-in compression system that can delay emptying for weeks.
The broader pitch is that budget buyers can now build a more flexible smart home with practical devices such as remotes, lamps, cameras, air purifiers and smart bulbs without premium pricing.
