ZDNET Urges 4 Android Auto Setting Changes to Cut Driving Distractions

Summary
Four default Android Auto settings should be changed immediately, ZDNET said, arguing the stock setup leaves the interface cluttered and more distracting than necessary while driving.
Two of the biggest fixes target interruptions: disable automatic music start at ignition and turn off message previews, group-conversation alerts or the message chime that can cover navigation and break audio playback.
Android Auto users can also simplify the launcher by hiding unused apps from the car display, reducing visual clutter without deleting those apps from the phone.
Taskbar widgets are another recommended switch, replacing recent-app icons with dynamic controls such as media buttons, next-turn information and quick contact shortcuts.
