Snoop Dogg said Tupac Shakur’s likeness will appear as playable character Amaru in Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven, due Jan. 15, 2027 for consoles and PC.
Snoop said he and his son worked closely with Tupac’s estate, Amaru Entertainment, to secure approval because the late rapper’s image and spirit fit the game.
Sega said RGG Studio built the character in close collaboration with the estate and did not use AI, relying instead on archival footage and photographs.
A second trailer released June 5 showed Amaru for the first time — silent, in a white robe and blue bandanna — after Snoop’s own role was unveiled in May.
The RPG spans 1915 to 1965 across five Japanese cities and also features Snoop as Orpheus, with Tori Kelly contributing to the theme song and appearing as a playable character.
