Summary
July 28 is the release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, which Xbox Wire previewed through a hands-on demo of “Assault on the Control Room,” the original game’s fifth and longest campaign level.
Halo Studios kept signature set pieces intact but reworked pain points: interior sections are fewer and less repetitive, navigation is guided more clearly, and the UI and pacing have been tightened.
Combat changes push the remake beyond a visual overhaul, with Marines now riding the Scorpion and using assigned weapons, difficulty affecting enemy aggression and spawn rates, and players able to hijack Covenant vehicles.
Four-player co-op also shaped the redesign, with rebuilt spaces, adjusted checkpoints, catch-up points, and enemy and weapon placement tuned for different player counts.
The remake launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud, Steam and PlayStation 5, with Game Pass inclusion, cross-play and cross-progression, and early access starting July 23 for Premium Edition buyers.
