June 20 will bring the long-delayed release of Dennis Quaid and Tanya Tucker’s “On My Way to Heaven” music video and audio single, which they promoted together at CMA Fest.
2019 was when Tucker first called Quaid about recording the gospel song; Kris Kristofferson soon joined, with Brandi Carlile on backing vocals, before COVID stalled the rollout for years.
Early 1990s recovery from rehab shaped the song’s origins, Quaid said, describing it as a faith-driven piece he wrote after rereading the Bible and other religious texts.
Nashville has also become central to Quaid’s life and music career since his 2020 move from Los Angeles, where he says high taxes, weak services and the 2025 fires deepened his disillusionment.
