$10,000 from the Henry and Clara Ford Endowed Fund for Innovation and Entrepreneurship went to Ella McKerrocher of Rome for Sunshine Sitters, the top award at Berry College’s annual The PITCH contest.
Three rounds of judging narrowed student entrepreneurs pitching business ideas to expert panels in a competition modeled on “Shark Tank” and designed to move ventures toward reality.
$6,000 went to William Hindman’s WB Custom Upholstery, while Miriam Miller Hughes won $3,000 for Mama Monicas and Ian Hughes took $2,500 for Tenderbuck.
Additional awards included $1,500 for Alexis Galimore’s Threadline, $1,000 for Davis Henson’s Fat Head Hats, and $677 each for the Pieces of Berry team.
The contest is sponsored by Berry’s Center for Student Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Development, underscoring the college’s push to fund student-led startups.
