The shift reflects how important cheap interceptors have become in Ukraine's air defense: some cost about $2,000 versus Shaheds priced in the tens of thousands, and Kyiv said last month their share of Shahed kills has doubled this year.
Ukraine's drone makers are also adding AI targeting and faster airframes as Russia fields electronic-warfare defenses and jet-powered Shaheds that can reach about 310 mph.
