Gears of War: E-Day will no longer launch on PlayStation 5, according to insider Jeff Grubb, after an internal decision made just hours before Xbox Games Showcase 2026.
Asha Sharma’s recent takeover as Xbox CEO appears to be driving the reversal, with Microsoft rethinking Phil Spencer’s broader multiplatform push to strengthen the core Xbox console business.
The game was officially announced only for PC and Xbox Series S|X, but a PS5 version had been widely expected as Microsoft expanded more first-party releases beyond Xbox hardware.
That shift could reach beyond E-Day: Fable is currently slated for next February with a day-one PS5 version, and its status may now be in question as Xbox balances publishing scale against exclusives.
