North Carolina Jobless Rate Holds at 3.4% as 57 Counties Post April Declines

Hyde County recorded the highest county rate at 5.7% and Currituck the lowest at 2.7%; among metro areas, Rocky Mount was highest at 4.6% and Raleigh lowest at 3.0%.
Compared with April 2025, county rates were mixed—down in 38 counties and up in 44—while statewide employment was down 34,578 and unemployment down 2,905.
The state said monthly employment figures are heavily affected by seasonal patterns, making over-the-year changes the better gauge ahead of the next update on June 23.
