Summary
China has barred 11 types of online behavior and issued new rules for multichannel content distribution, with the measures taking effect on Sept. 1.
The Cyberspace Administration of China said the crackdown targets rumors, cyberbullying and posts that could inflame public anger, social antagonism or discrimination.
Banned tactics include fabricating topics to confuse the public, spreading fake or speculative information, rehashing negative content and recycling old news in misleading ways.
Minors under 16 will be barred from hosting livestreams, while 16- to 18-year-olds must complete age checks and obtain parental or guardian consent.
The rollout comes as cyber police punished two web users for trolling a village official over alleged 'gold' earrings, underscoring Beijing's broader push to police online speech.
