Summary
With about 62% of ballots counted, precinct returns show Karen Bass dominating South L.A. and the central San Fernando Valley, while Spencer Pratt leads across much of the Westside and West Valley and Nithya Raman runs strongest in renter-heavy progressive areas.
Bass has already secured a Nov. 3 runoff berth, but the second spot remains unsettled: early returns give Pratt a clear edge over Raman, though analysts expect late mail ballots to skew younger and more Democratic.
Pratt’s map closely overlaps with Rick Caruso’s 2022 base, including Pacific Palisades, Encino and Chatsworth, while Bass extended farther west in parts of the Valley and Pratt also led in some areas she carried in 2022, such as Studio City.
Raman’s strength is concentrated from Hollywood to Highland Park and around UCLA, where she won 56% in one Westwood precinct, yet she was still trailing in 54 of the 66 precincts in her own council district.
Several battleground precincts remain razor-close, including ties between Bass and Raman in Koreatown and downtown and between Bass and Pratt in Sun Valley and Encino, underscoring how incomplete the citywide picture still is.
