Summary
Two masked men opened fire on a group around 12:25 a.m. in Chicago's Back of the Yards, killing two men and wounding five others on South Wood Street.
The dead victims were shot multiple times and pronounced at University of Chicago Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital; a 23-year-old woman shot in the head was hospitalized in critical condition.
Four other victims — a 30-year-old woman and men aged 54, 21 and 32 — were treated at Stroger, Mount Sinai and University of Chicago hospitals in fair or good condition.
Cook County Crime Stoppers offered up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest as Area One detectives investigate the mass shooting.
The attack added to recurring gun violence on Chicago's South Side, with Crime Stoppers urging witnesses to come forward anonymously.
