Summary
Almunthir Daqamah, 21, was charged with attempted murder after a University of Surrey staff member was shot with a crossbow at Manor Park Student Village in Guildford.
Police also charged the former student with possession of an offensive weapon, two counts of possessing a bladed article and possession of Class B drugs.
The campus safety officer, a man in his 50s, remained in stable condition in hospital after Thursday's attack.
Daqamah was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court, while Surrey Police said they are not seeking anyone else and see no sign of a terror motive.
