Trump and Burgum framed the plan as finishing the 1902 McMillan blueprint for the National Mall, alongside Trump's proposed redesign of the Reflecting Pool and a 250-foot arch near Arlington National Cemetery.
No timeline or further design details were released; the White House referred questions back to Trump's remarks, and the Interior Department and National Park Service did not immediately respond.
The promenade would come on top of an existing $69 million Lincoln Memorial overhaul launched before Trump's return, which is converting space beneath the monument into a museum, theater and store.
The proposal extends Trump's broader push to remake Washington landmarks, a campaign already facing historian criticism, legal challenges over a White House ballroom, and a court setback on the Kennedy Center.
