Lansing police ordered residents near the 2700 block of 170th Street to shelter in place Thursday while officers searched for a suspect who fled south from the area.
Dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital indicated authorities were responding to a reported active shooter at a chemical plant across from the police department, with a helicopter airborne and a K9 team being sought.
Police described the suspect as a Black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds, last seen in a black do-rag, black hoodie and white surgical mask.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed the dispatch-audio details — including reported victims or injuries — and the circumstances of the incident remained unclear.
