8.2% — Türkiye’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose 0.1 percentage point in April even though the number of unemployed edged down 5,000 to 2.87 million.
361,000 fewer people in the labor force drove that increase, with participation falling 0.6 percentage point to 52.4% and the labor force dropping to 35.03 million.
356,000 jobs were lost during the month, cutting total employment to 32.17 million and pushing the employment rate down 0.6 percentage point to 48.1%.
11% unemployment for women remained well above 6.8% for men, while youth unemployment fell 0.8 percentage point to 14.5%, including 19.4% for young women.
