Amazon Unveils Proteus Robot in €10 Billion Europe Push

Amazon said the upgraded Proteus robot will reach European warehouses in the first half of 2027, moving beyond dock areas to work across warehouse floors.
Conversational AI is central to the new model: workers can tell Proteus what needs doing, and it determines the task priority, route and timing to speed fulfilment.
€10 billion will fund a broader European network buildout that also includes the STARK tote-handling system at 15 sites by 2027 and more than 25 sub-same-day delivery sites this year.
Grocery delivery is a key target, with Amazon Now expanding to Manchester and Birmingham as the company pushes faster fresh-food service in Britain, Germany, Japan and other markets.
The Europe plans fit Amazon's wider spending surge after it forecast in February that 2026 capital expenditure would jump more than 50% to $200 billion.
