Emilia Clarke Debunks $300,000 Game of Thrones Pay Rumor as Emmy Loss Still Stings

Emilia Clarke said reports that she earned $300,000 an episode on Game of Thrones were wrong, telling Variety the figure was "not even close."
Deadline had reported in 2014 that Clarke and other main cast members were near $300,000 per episode, then said in 2017 they rose to more than $500,000 for seasons 7 and 8.
The 39-year-old also said losing the Emmy in 2019 hit her hard after four nominations for playing Daenerys Targaryen; she skipped the afterparties and went straight home.
Clarke could return to the Emmy race this year for Peacock's Ponies, while the Thrones franchise continues with House of the Dragon season 3 due June 21.
