BCG Says 66% of AI Users Lack Guidance as 42% Save a Workday Weekly

Summary
42% of frontline employees who use AI regularly save at least a full day a week, but 66% say they get no guidance on how to use that time, BCG’s latest global survey found.
11,749 employees across 14 markets told BCG that efficiency gains often are not turning into measurable business value because companies deployed tools quickly without redesigning work around them.
74% of frontline workers now use AI daily or a few times a week—up 23 percentage points from a year ago—while AI agents are already embedded in workflows for 30%, more than double last year’s 13%.
Only one-third of frontline staff said leadership communicates clearly about AI, and just 28% saw a strong link between leaders’ messaging and what organizations actually do.
60% said the standard for work that is 'good enough' has risen, underscoring BCG’s argument that the next phase of AI is a management-led redesign of workflows, training and performance expectations.
