Summary
Beijing has cleared the city’s first space computing industry innovation center, with an official launch expected by the end of June.
Six research tracks will anchor the center, spanning heat-resistant space-native chips, hyper-interconnected payloads, satellite platforms and standards, space-based large models, space-ground cloud control networks, and tokenized computing services.
BUPT and leading space-computing companies will jointly lead the project, which is designed to link the full industrial chain and accelerate satellite Internet of Things development.
Space computing shifts processing, storage and AI decision-making onto satellites and other orbital platforms, and Beijing says its dense cluster of rocket, satellite, chip and large-model firms gives it a strong base for the push.
