Summary
261.6 kg of hashish worth about $3.6 million was found hidden in a Bombardier Challenger 604 at Asuncion’s Silvio Pettirossi airport after the jet arrived from Miami on Friday.
Paraguayan media said the aircraft was piloted by Estonian entrepreneur Keith Siilats, who left the country before the Sunday raid and denies knowing about the cargo.
Siilats said he was hired because the regular pilot was unavailable, noticed unusual behavior only after landing, and later learned passengers had arranged a private hangar and overnight work on the jet.
Four people were initially detained, including co-pilot Jabari Brown and three U.S.-based passengers; a later report said Brown was released and a warrant was issued for Siilats.
The seizure was carried out under Paraguay’s Colibri anti-trafficking program, and authorities have not yet announced formal charges against Siilats.
