Montana Senate Race Becomes 3-Way Contest After Daines Exit as Bodnar Tops $2 Million

Three candidates are now set for Montana’s November Senate race after Sen. Steve Daines abruptly ended his reelection bid, leaving Republican Kurt Alme, independent Seth Bodnar and former state Rep. Reilly Neill on the ballot.
Alme entered almost immediately after Daines withdrew and is running with backing from Trump, Daines and Sen. Tim Sheehy, but rivals say the timing showed party insiders tried to steer the GOP field.
Bodnar has seized an early financial edge, raising more than $754,000 since March for a total above $2 million; Neill raised $294,000 in the same period and Alme $259,000.
Montana still leans heavily Republican — Trump carried the state by double digits in each of his elections — leaving Bodnar and Neill trying to overcome the GOP’s structural advantage.
