Thirty-five people were charged in West Virginia after a yearlong FBI operation targeting narcotics and firearms offenses, with agents also seizing illegal guns, drugs and alleged criminal proceeds.
Operation Turf War began in early 2025 through FBI Pittsburgh, FBI Baltimore and the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, using informants and coordinated SWAT support to make the arrests.
The bureau paired the announcement with Operation Summer Heat 2.0, a nationwide violent-crime initiative running 95 days through Sept. 20 with state and local law-enforcement partners.
Last year's version produced nearly 9,000 arrests nationwide, including about 7,750 searches, 2,280 firearms seized and more than 44,560 kilograms of cocaine confiscated.
The FBI said this year's campaign will run on a larger scale, using the West Virginia operation as a model for broader summer enforcement across the country.
