June 18 marks the start of Levi’s Midnight Sun Hunt, with visitors registering at the resort’s visitor center to begin searching for a 20,000-euro gold bar.
Clues will guide participants across Levi’s trails, landmarks and attractions through the summer, with organizers saying the prize could be found at any stage before a final hint on August 22.
Visit Levi is using the contest to draw travelers beyond the region’s winter ski season, pitching Lapland’s 24-hour summer daylight as an overlooked attraction.
Levi joins other European winter destinations expanding into snow-free activities; the hunt, run with Agnico Eagle Finland and Levi Ski Resort, bans digging and requires visitors to stay in permitted areas.
