Muscatine Police Identify 6 Family Members Killed, Say Suspect Died by Suicide

Six victims named at a Tuesday vigil were Lesa McFarland, Dakota Whitlow, Austin Harris, Ryle McFarland, Mark McFarland and Ryan McFarland Jr., all believed to be relatives of suspect Ryan McFarland.
Police said the shootings likely grew out of a domestic dispute after officers found four bodies at a Park Avenue home, then two more victims at a Mill Street home and a Grandview Avenue business.
Ryan McFarland, 52, was located on the riverfront trail near the pedestrian bridge and shot himself when confronted by officers, police said.
Muscatine Community School District said two victims were students and two were staff members, and counselors were made available to students and employees.
