Andy Ogles Deletes Anti-Gay X Post After Pride Month Backlash From GOP Allies

Rep. Andy Ogles quietly removed his X post Monday after it declared, "Homosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month," triggering broad backlash on Pride Month's second day.
Rep. Mike Lawler, a fellow Republican, called the message "absolutely idiotic" and privately contacted Ogles, saying gay and lesbian Americans include his family, friends, colleagues and constituents.
The criticism spread beyond Democrats, with Vermont Rep. Becca Balint pointing to openly gay Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and conservative commentator Link Lauren saying the post did not reflect Trump or his administration.
Ogles, a Freedom Caucus member facing a 2026 Republican primary, had not publicly responded by publication, leaving the episode as another sign of GOP tensions over LGBTQ+ inclusion.
