Boutros Disputes Broadview Six Grand Jury Contact Claim, Citing 3 1/2-Minute Transcript Error

A report released Tuesday says Andrew Boutros never appeared before the Broadview Six grand jury to discuss facts, evidence or law, and only addressed that panel for about 3 1/2 minutes on Oct. 23, 2025.
The office said the allegation stemmed from a court reporter's transcription error that rendered the foreperson's reference to Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Bond as "USA (inaudible)," wrongly suggesting Boutros spoke during deliberations.
Boutros said his remarks were limited to the grand jury's role and a request that any juror unable to be objective in immigration cases identify themselves, after disturbances and tension a week earlier.
The report answers a defense claim raised in court last week in the Broadview Six case, a high-profile prosecution tied to the Trump administration's Operation Midway Blitz deportation campaign in Chicago.
That case was already under scrutiny after Judge April Perry faulted former prosecutor Sheri Mecklenburg for apparent misconduct before the grand jury, and Boutros has not answered calls from senators for his resignation.
