A.J. Brown took his first Patriots reps Tuesday and caught a quick hitch from Drake Maye during 11-on-11 work after passing his physical and completing his trade from Philadelphia.
Vrabel said Brown will start outside in Josh McDaniels' offense, then expand across all three receiver spots as New England teaches the full concept to its pass catchers.
Brown, a 3-time Pro Bowler, said joining his childhood team felt "close to heaven" and chose No. 1 instead of No. 11 out of respect for Julian Edelman.
June 9-11 mandatory minicamp is next, with Brown's chemistry with Maye now a focal point as the Patriots fold their new top receiver into the offense.
