Portland Driver, 38, Hospitalized After Striking Deer on I-5 in Cowlitz County

38-year-old Kendra Watkins of Portland was taken to a hospital after her vehicle hit a deer Monday night on southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 52 in Cowlitz County.
Washington State Patrol said the deer jumped into the left lane, and Watkins' vehicle struck it before both came to rest on the right shoulder.
Watkins' condition was not released, though troopers said she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
