More than 20 Democratic attorneys general pressed the Labor Department to scrap its proposed 401(k) alternatives rule in a joint appeal released Monday.
The group warned the proposal could weaken protections for Americans’ retirement savings by opening 401(k) plans to alternative investments.
Their intervention adds state-level political pressure on the DOL as it weighs whether to advance or revise the retirement-policy proposal.
