Andrew Berry said Cleveland will evaluate Brendan Sorsby like any other prospect, softening coach Todd Monken’s outright resistance to pursuing the quarterback in the supplemental draft.
Monken called drafting Sorsby a “slippery slope” because the Texas Tech transfer was ruled ineligible by the NCAA for placing thousands of bets on college and pro sports, including on his own team.
Sorsby’s lawyers are seeking a temporary injunction to restore his 2026 eligibility, with a court decision requested by June 15 so he can decide by June 22 whether to enter the NFL supplemental draft.
The case matters because Sorsby was ESPN’s top transfer in January after 7,208 passing yards and 82 total touchdowns across four seasons at Cincinnati and Indiana.
