DHS said ICE arrested 10 undocumented migrants in New Jersey last week, highlighting cases involving convictions or arrests tied to voluntary manslaughter, sex assault, robbery and weapons offenses.
The department released the arrests as protests escalated outside Newark's Delaney Hall detention center, where activists and some New Jersey lawmakers have demanded the facility's closure over detainee living conditions.
DHS spokeswoman Lauren Bis said the disclosure was meant to rebut what she called false smears by sanctuary politicians and leftist agitators, arguing ICE is removing dangerous offenders despite the unrest.
