Ukraine's General Staff said an overnight June 2 strike hit the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai and caused a major fire at one of southern Russia's largest fuel plants.
The facility lies about 500 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory and produces nearly 6.6 million tons of fuel a year, underscoring Kyiv's ability to reach deep into Russia.
Russian authorities did not disclose damage at the refinery, while the Defense Ministry said air defenses intercepted 148 drones overnight across eight regions, occupied Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.
Ilsky has now been struck at least 16 times since Russia's full-scale invasion, including twice in February 2026, as Krasnodar Krai faces increasingly frequent Ukrainian drone attacks.
