Microsoft said the desktop Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is built for sustained AI tasks including long-running training jobs, agentic pipelines and local model fine-tuning.
The system uses Nvidia's RTX Spark chip, offers up to 128GB of unified memory and delivers 1 petaflop of AI compute, with an embedded Blackwell GPU Microsoft says performs around laptop RTX 5070 levels.
A 100W thermal envelope and Arm-based design let the box handle more heat than the related Surface Laptop Ultra, positioning it as a desktop option for developers who do not want a laptop.
Microsoft has not disclosed pricing, but said the Dev Box will ship later this year through Microsoft.com, competing with AI mini PCs such as Nvidia's DGX Spark and AMD's Ryzen AI Halo systems priced around $3,999.
