Intel Says Arc G3 Extreme Tops Ryzen Z2 Extreme by 42% as Handheld Prices Turn "Crazy"

Intel showcased its Panther Lake-based Arc G3 Extreme for handhelds, saying it beat AMD's Ryzen Z2 Extreme by 42% at 1080p with upscaling under a 35W sustained power limit.
At lower power, Intel said the chip delivered 37% higher frame rates at 12W and could match the Ryzen Z2 Extreme's performance at roughly half the power, strengthening its battery-life pitch.
Intel also highlighted an "Endurance Gaming" mode that dynamically trims power and caps frame rates; in Forza Horizon 6, it said battery life rose from 2 hours 47 minutes to nearly 6 hours at 1080p low settings.
The performance claims come with a pricing warning: Intel executive Tom Peterson said Arc G3 Extreme handhelds such as MSI's Claw 8 EX AI+ will have a "crazy" price point, citing costly RAM, storage and still-expensive Panther Lake silicon.
That leaves Intel positioning Arc G3 Extreme as a premium handheld chip that may outpace AMD on speed and efficiency, while Ryzen Z2 Extreme devices are likely to remain the cheaper option.
