Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Drops to 201g, Adds New 50MP Camera Sensor

Ice Universe says Samsung’s wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 will weigh 201g, making it lighter than the Z Fold 7 and even some slab phones such as Google’s 232g Pixel 10 Pro XL.
The leak also points to a new 50MP camera sensor on the Wide model that natively supports 24MP output, a shift from Samsung’s usual 12MP default on many phones.
A separate Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra would reportedly stay at 215g but pair that with a larger 5,000 mAh battery, 45W charging and a slightly thinner unfolded profile.
The weight claim highlights how far foldables have come from early models like Samsung’s 273g original Galaxy Fold and Google’s 283g Pixel Fold, where heft was a major usability drawback.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup on July 22, with recent dummy-unit images showing the Wide and Ultra side by side.
