Larry Ellison Warns AI Could Turn Billions of Cameras Into Constant Surveillance

Oracle CTO Larry Ellison said AI, drones and expanding monitoring systems could erode privacy by analyzing video in real time and automatically reporting suspected wrongdoing.
Billions of cameras across streets, cars, front doors and police bodycams would feed that system, he said, shifting more detection and decision-making from humans to AI.
Ellison argued the spread of always-on monitoring would change public behavior, echoing fears of a modern surveillance state akin to Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four."
The warning adds to broader concerns over AI surveillance, including reports of U.S. homeland security social-media monitoring and workplace tracking by large tech companies.
