Hotfix 3 for Subnautica 2 cuts some of Early Access’s biggest pain points, reducing predator harassment while upgrading Nvidia DLSS to version 4.5 and fixing related crashes.
Hammerheads no longer attack unpiloted Tadpoles, Marrowbreaches strike less often, and Nibblers now spot players from shorter range, move slower and telegraph attacks longer—though several creatures hit harder.
The patch also fixes multiplayer rejoin position rollbacks, a rare game-start crash and a potentially game-breaking Strike Armor stacking bug, while reducing Interior Wall costs to one-quarter of prior levels.
Unknown Worlds had warned in a May 20 open letter that “creature balance needs work,” after players said some encounters felt frustrating rather than tense during the game’s opening Early Access weeks.
The studio is still refusing to add lethal combat against sea life, framing that as a core design choice shaped by games like SOMA and Alien: Isolation rather than a pacifist stance.
