June 5 brings Masters of the Universe to theaters, with Nicholas Galitzine playing Prince Adam and Jared Leto cast as Skeletor in Travis Knight’s big-budget He-Man reboot.
The film follows Adam from a childhood escape from Eternia to a decade stranded on Earth, before he recovers the Sword of Power and returns to fight Skeletor for Castle Grayskull.
Travis Knight’s adaptation is being framed around its visual scale—vivid Eternia landscapes, practical effects and ILM-enhanced action—with Daniel Pemberton and Brian May supplying a stadium-rock score.
The release lands after The Mandalorian and Grogu lost the box-office top spot in its second weekend, and IMAX shifted some screens early to make room for the new blockbuster.
Box-office prospects remain uncertain, with some analysts saying Masters of the Universe could still trail Scary Movie even as it arrives as a rare large-scale sci-fi fantasy swing.
